Day to Day Program:
DAY 1 – DELHI
Arrive in India’s bustling capital city, where you will be greeted with a traditional Indian welcome and escorted to the hotel. New Delhi reflects the legacy the British left behind. The division between New and Old Delhi is the segregation between the capitals of the British and Mughals.
DAY 2 – DELHI
Drive along Rajpath, Delhi’s broadest avenue, to see India Gate, Parliament House and President’s Palace. Visit Birla Mandir, Qutab Minar and Red Fort with its Pearl Mosque and audience halls; Raj Ghat, Gandhi Memorial; Ashoka Pillar and Chandni Chowk Bazaar.
DAY 3 – DELHI / RANTHAMBHORE NATIONAL PARK
Travel by train to Ranthambhore. The park is the best example of Project Tiger’s efforts for conservation. Afternoon, embark on a game drive to sight the tigers.
DAY 4 – RANTHAMBHORE NATIONAL PARK
It is one of the few places where tigers are seen in the day. Take a safari jeep ride in the morning and evening. Afternoon, explore Ranthambhore’s lakes and Fort.
DAY 5 – RANTHAMBHORE / SAMODE VILLAGE
After a morning game drive and breakfast travel overland to Samode. Rajasthan has been the land of the Maharaja’s and their nobles.
DAY 6 – SAMODE / JAIPUR
Spend the day exploring the quaint village of Samode by foot. The village is on a former caravan route and its local artisans are well known for producing printed cloth and glass bangles. Your last stop will be at the village school to learn about efforts to educate children from farming families. A short drive this evening brings you to Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City.
DAY 7 – AMBER & JAIPUR CITY TOUR
Travel a short distance outside Jaipur to the ancient capital of Amber, ascending on an elephant to the Palace Fortress. Tour the intricate chambers and hallways of the palace. En route to Amber, make a photo stop at Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds), built in 1799 AD, a unique Rajput landmark. Continue to the City Palace, its many museums and the largest stone Observatory in the world.
DAY 8 – JAIPUR / BHARATPUR BIRD SANCTUARY
Travel overland to Bharatpur and Keoladeo Ghana, one of the most spectacular bird sanctuaries in India. It nests indigenous water-birds, such as the migratory water birds and the waterside birds. Sambar, chital, nilgai and boar can be found residing here. On your bird watching tour this evening, you are likely to see at least seventeen species of birds.
DAY 9 – BHARATPUR / FATEHPUR SIKRI / AGRA
Rise early to see Bharatpur. Whilst cruising on a boat, you see flocks of ducks, widgeon, heron and spoonbill. Travel overland to Fatehpur Sikri, once an imperial capital frozen in time, constructed by Akbar the Great around 1570. Continue to Agra.
DAY 10 – AGRA / BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK
Visit the Taj Mahal, built by Emperor Shah Jahan between 1631-52, as a tomb and memorial to his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Visit Agra Fort built by three of the greatest Mughal emperors. This evening, travel overnight by train to Bandhavgarh National Park.
DAY 11 – ARRIVE BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK
Morning, arrive at Bandhavgarh, known as the White Tiger territory. There are more than 22 species of mammals, and 250 species of birds. Many migratory birds during the winter months, including the steppe eagle and a variety of wildfowl.
DAY 12 – BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK
Best time to enjoy the safari is from dawn till 10:00 AM and 04:00 PM till dusk. Some of the game drives may be provided on elephants’ backs.
DAY 13 – BANDHAVGARH/ KHAJURAHO
Travel Overland to Khajuraho, a city of living temples. After settling in at the Hotel, visit the eastern group of temples comprising of the Brahmin and Jain shrines close to Khajuraho village.
DAY 14 – KHAJURAHO / DELHI / FLIGHT BACK HOME
Breakfast at Hotel. Visit the Western Group of Temples including Kandariya Mahadev, representing Chandela art at its best. Later, fly to Delhi to connect with your onward flight home.
