EFLIGHT 2021-SUNRISE will not fly over, or even very close to, Antarctica. While the eclipse itself does pass over part of Antarctica ELIGHT will intercept the umbra at sunrise near the start of the path at a latitude of 53° 08’ after flying more or less due east from the tip of South America just south of the Falklands and over the open ocean.
NOTE: Pricing (all in U.S. dollars) for EFLIGHT 2021-SUNRISE is identical on both planes, Plane “Blue” and Plane “Gold”: per SEAT ROW, not per individual seat. Prices are in two categories as shown above, Standard and Premier. Your price is for an entire ROW of 3 seats on the left side, = Sun side, of this single-aisle aircraft type, i.e. for seats A (window), B (middle), and C (aisle) in the ROW. Thus you will be able to bring someone to share the cost of the ROW if you so choose. Having a ROW to yourself will always be the most roomy and comfortable of course, especially if you intend to bring a large camera setup to photograph the eclipse as well as view it yourself. On the other hand, sharing a ROW will be fairly easy to do on board either of the two Airbuses due to the horizontal, “straight-out” view we will have of the just-risen Sun. Since there are three seats in the ROW you could even bring a third person. However, in that instance we urge caution because this will make your spacing very tight, and we will insist you must be careful not to affect the ROW in front of you or behind you when moving around; in fact, in the period just before and during totality no one should move around at all.
Please note that there will be a $250 administrative fee for each additional person, more than one, in a ROW. Pricing does not include airfare from your point of origin to Punta Arenas or accommodations, etc.. Closer to the time when the final balance payment is due, ACTC will also be able to assist with flights to and from Punta Arenas as well as with any touring you may like to do before and/or after the eclipse. Some ROWs will have access to just 1.0 window whereas others will have access to 1.0 window plus part of an additional window, with a seatback blocking the remainder of that second window. In such ROWs with more than 1.0 window you will only pay half the price of the additional fractional window, thus improving the economics for you. So for instance, if you pick a ROW with 1.6 windows you will only pay for 1.3 windows. For each seat ROW we’re specifying in advance whether its left-side window seatback, the A seatback, is permitted to lean back during the eclipse observation period and if so by how much (for which the B and C seatbacks will have the same permissions)
The final payment is due on or before 30 July, 2021, Due to airline charter terms, no refunds after final payment. Travel insurance is strongly recommended to protect your travel investment.
